New "Winter" release ~

Here it is! And just in time for the official start of Winter. After procrastinating and putting off designing this piece, I am very pleased with how it turned out.  Winters in Idaho and long, cold and kind of drab, so I just couldn't get excited about designing this one. But I love how it turned out. It really depicts winter to me, complete with the warm cozy house. I hope you are staying warm this winter and finding plenty of stitching time.  Watch for a contest on my Facebook page (From the Heart Needleart by Wendy) to celebrate this release and the completion of this years four seasons charts.

Here are pictures of my charts that were released this fall.  First there is "Peace".
 This is "Victorian Postcard Sampler".
And this is "A Quaker Autumn".
They are all available through your local needlework shops and Norden Crafts and Hoffman Distributing.

Stitching on Linen ~

Since most, ok all of the designs I stitch are on linen fabric. I wanted to do a little tutorial on how to stitch on linen for those of you who are anxious to start stitching.

Usually I stitch on 28 count linen, which means there are 28 threads per inch. You stitch over two threads so you end up with 14 stitches per inch. For this count you usually use 2 ply of cotton or silk threads. I like to use a petite tapestry needle size 28. Experiment with needles to see what you are comfortable with.

It is easier to stitch on linen if you start along a vertical thread as shown by the green line. Bring your needle up next to the vertical thread at the green dot.  Then complete your stitch as shown in the diagram.  If all of your stitches start at the vertical thread, it is easier to count and you will quickly know when you are off.

Don't let the thought of stitching on linen scare you away from stitching your favorite charts. There are so many fun designs waiting for you.

Happy Stitching, Wendy

New Releases ~

Here they are!
This is Spring. Look for the rest of the seasons to come this summer.
And here is Grandma's Quilt Block.  This is taken from an old quilt we received as a wedding present 30 years ago. It was made by my Great Aunt Lisle Loosle Andrus. I am designing more quilt block charts so they can be stitched together into a 12" by 16" mini stitched quilt.

Freebie Chart ~

Grandma's Flower Garden Free Chart

Here is a new little freebie.
Here in Idaho we are freezing and the only hope we have of flowers is if we stitch them ourselves.
I hope you enjoy stitching this new little chart.
